The Jyothirling

Located about 30kms from Nashik, Trimbakeshwar is one of the rare Jyothirlinga temple where Lord Shiva is worshiped along with Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma.

The sacred river Godavari too takes her Birth here and the place is doubly divine.
The town is located on the foothills of Brahmagiri and is very beautiful.
Shrad (Worship of deceased Elders) is done here.
The performing of important rituals like
NARAYANA BALI
KAAL SARPA DOSHA
PITRU DOSHA
SHRADHA
etc are done here and is considered to get rid of all your sins and take you to the path of salvation.

YOU CAN TOUCH THE LORD HERE!!!

For touching lord Trimbakeshwar people should wear uni cloths (i.e. a
cloth called "sovale" in marathi). Only gents can touch lord
trimbakeshwar pindi with wearing sovale. Ladies can’t go inside to
touch trimbakeshwar pindi

You will have step down 3-4 steps inside the Garba Griha and then touch the LORD.
Oh! What a feeling !!!
OFFER DARBHA (GRASS) TO COWS HERE!

Once he saw a cow grazing in the paddy field and he drove her away by
throwing Darbha (sharp, pointed grass). Rishi Gautama requested Rishis to show
a way out of this sin of killing a Cow!. He was counsel to approach Lord Shiva and
request him to release Ganges and a bath in the Ganges would set him
free of his sins. Lord Shiva ensured that Mother Ganga appear here in the form of Godavari and thus the sin of killing a cow by Gautama was wiped off here.
It was a surprise call from my friend Prasanna.
His enthusiasm was clear in his voice "Hi Kent, get ready we are going to Thekkady tomorrow".
"Tomorrow"? I was shocked.
"No time to argue. I had already booked room in Club Mahindra. We are going in my Bullet. I will pick you at 3pm" reasoned Prasanna and hung up.
I finished my pending work and delegated some other and went to his house at 2.30. He was, as usual, busy still with his factory work.
"When are we going"? I asked.

"Give me 15 minutes"......Prasanna.
That 15 minutes stretched to more than a hour and we left Bangalore at 3.45pm.
The meter reading showed "17634"
Not a bad time really to hit the ever busy Hosur Road since the Saturday afternoon traffic is 75% less than usual.
We filled the tank to the brim at the Shell Petrol Bunk at the Hosur Road and off we went.

Prasanna was clear before hand itself. "We will going at a leisurely pace. Let us enjoy the journey than just zooming to our destination". The exact words I too wanted to hear.

FIRST HALT :
After crossing Hosur, I suggested we stop for coffee.
Prasanna said "Wait, I have discovered a better place last week while coming back from Chennai".
And the place was BPCL Petrol Bunk before Krishnagiri (meter 17704). As with most petrol bunks this too housed Amenities and had Adyar Anand Bhavan.
Since the time was 5.30 we decided to have a Vada(Rs.30) and coffee (20). Quite tasty, as expected.
The break lasted for more than half an hour.

Since the twilight started its effect, the speed was reduced further and the views became less clearer.
Another 76 kms and we made yet another stop at just after Dharmapuri for coffee.

NIGHT HALT :
Salem was about 55kms and as we approached Salem, we released we had not booked any hotel which I normally prefer to (whichever place it may be).
We decided to look around the New Bus Stand and after weighing options of choosing between City View and Hotel Selvam, we went for the latter.
The rooms cost about Rs.660 and was just about okay. The rooms were well maintained but slightly noisy (which is understood since the hotel is bang opposite the Bus Stand).

We wanted a light dinner and went to next door Saravana Bhavan. We ordered Rotis and Mix Veg Curry. The taste was nothing to write about and the quantity was shockingly less. But, the bill was more shocking. The Roti was Rs.40 and the half bowl Mix Veg Curry was priced at Rs.80.
We paid the bill and did not thank the Hotel staff.
We lazed around the Main Street for about a hour and hit the bed as we had to leave early the next day.

FRESH DAY...........ON TO THEKKADY.
We woke up to the fresh day with a bad news. The Hotel would provide Hot Water only after 6.30am. "What a lazy people" I cursed and settled for Cold Bath.
The Cold Bath instantly recharged me and after a lightening check out, we left Salem at 6.30am with the meter reading 17834.
The cool morning breeze, with the Sun playing hide and seek with clouds along with the Excellent roads, made the journey a memorable one. We crossed several Water Bridges on the way.
Namakkal was passed by in a flash and we decided to have breakfast at Karur.
Karur is a big city and we zeroed in HOTEL PADMA for breakfast. It was a good choice as the Pongal, Vada and Idly were all deliciously done.

We had light breakfast and the bill was light too.

We filled our petrol to the brim at the Indian Oil, karur.
The meter read 17927.
From Karur the road to Dindigul is very well maintained. But, as soon you cross Dindigul towards Theni, the roads change their shape but not very drastically, but change they do.
So, the speed came down a bit and we reached Theni at around 12.30pm.
Prasanna reasoned "from here, the roads are not so good and also we will not find any big city/village, it is better we have Early Lunch".
The stomach was not ready but our mind forced the stomach to fill up.
The lunch at Annapurna Hotel, Theni was heavy (probably we did not have that much appetite) and the taste was so so............though Prasanna liked the taste here too.
And just as Prasanna guessed, the road from Theni was not only less good, it was awful in some stretches. To add further to our woes, the roads were being dug up to make it a 4 lane or something and in some places, there was virtually NO ROADS.
Slowly we passed Periyukulam, Cumbum and reached Kumily.
Kumily and Thekkady are 2 kms apart but are in two different states.
Kumily is on the Tamil Nadu side and Thekkady on the Kerala side.
The weather changed drastically. Cool breeze hit us and the greenery gave way to more greenery.
We were welcomed warmly at Club Mahindra Resorts with Pudina Juice.
The check in was quick and we were escorted to our Room.
The room are tastefully decorated and well stocked with refreshements in form of coffee, tea, dairy powder and sugar. It also stocked Microwave Oven.

The meter reading was 19146 which meant we had covered 510kms from Bangalore.
The Club Mahindra Resort at Thekkady is amidst lush greenery with good amenities. It has 49 rooms, swimming pool and good views from its Terrace.

THEKKADY :
Thekkady is not a small place.
It seems to be a small place but it boasts of a good number of restaurants, lodges, resorts and shops.
The Tourist attraction is limited. But, don't get fooled by that. The attractions are pretty breath taking and unspoilt and hence soaks you in its fold.

THE PERIYAR TIGER RESERVE is maintained very well and stunningly bewitching.

The Lake is tinged with greenery and the Boating exploration helps you in capturing a glimpse of Elephants (definite), variety of birds (definite), tigers (if you are very lucky).
I had a great time exploring the Tiger Reserve.
Evening the Club Mahindra people arranged a Karoke singing and I pitched in with my favourite CHALTE CHALTE (Kishore Kumar). The Screen showed a score of "96". Pretty good, isn't it???

KUMILY :
The entry to Thekkady is from Kumily and boasts of variety of plantations. Greenery abound as far as your vision extends.

EATING:
I had good meals at Lords Annapurna Restaurant. The Roti was crisp and the Paneer Butter Masala was nicely done and tasted good.
The Ariya Bhavan, however, was a disappointment. The Meals was nothing to write about. The serving was poor and your stomach would not be 'full' even after having the meal here!!
The Arya Bhavan, was a surpise, though. The idly was soft and fluffy. The sambar tasted yummy and I had a second, third helping.

STAYING AT THEKKADY:
I stayed at Club Mahindra. The location is spot on and the resort boasts of natural greenery and is maintained very well. The Fun Manager ensures you are not bored, even though I doubt how anyone can get bored in such a place like this.
I also went to some lodges and collected details which I have updated on my website www.goodhoteladvisors.blogspot.com
Being a Sterling Resorts member, I had to visit the same and I should say I was impressed with this too. However, sadly, the resort rooms do not have kitchen unlike Club Mahindra.

THE RETURN JOURNEY:

The return journey part was a harried one. We decided we will not halt anywhere and cover the entire 510kms on the same day.
We checked out of Club Mahindra at 6.30am and after having a cup of hot piping coffee, left Thekkady at 7am.
Stopped by enroute as we spotted Grape Wineyards. Decided to get one packed for the home.
Again stopped briefly at Theni for Tea.
Met a Kannada guy who was thrilled to see that we had come on Bike. He refused to take the Tea Bill, forced him........but he was adamant on not taking the amount. We thanked him and left with the lingering Boiler Tea taste.
Upon reaching Dindigul at around 10.30, we were hungry and spotted Hotel Archana on the Highway.
The waiter directly told that the Idly is not hot but Sambar is......
We were too hungry to look at all those hot-cold factor and ordered 2 plates of Idly, Vada, Pongal. Surprise, inspire of not being hot, the Idly tasted heavenly.

Upon reaching Salem, Prasanna wanted to buy something for his family and we went to SKC. The store is huge and houses thousands of sarees, clothes, etc. The price range is wide and you are definite to find something to match your budget.
We had lunch at Saravana Bhavan opp the New Bus Stand and here again, the Manager of the restaurant "forcefully" served us extra helping of roti with love. He had seen us a couple of days back on bike and on seeing again enquired about our journey and was pleasantly surpised and happy that we were having lunch at his hotel.
As we hit the Bangalore City roads by late evening, it was a surprise that there was no back pain which I was warned of while leaving Bangalore.
And the Bragging rights having been acquired, started with you..........................................

Regards,
As the name suggests, the deity Parsvanath has 1,000 hoods, and milk poured on one hood gets distributed equally to the others.

This ancient temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Parsvanath at darga. This temple has recently been dug out.

BEAUTY OF THE TEMPLE :

This temple came to knowledge just before 100 Years. The principal deity Lord Parsvanath’s idol was found below ash that is very attractive. The Idol is really miraculous. Its specialty is that while we drop milk or water in one serpent hood it comes out through all the mouths and thus whole idol gets showered. This idol is 5 feet in height with cross legged seating posture, Black in color.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 269px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSX5L487Ea8Rh0HLwivix6vo4zV870n3w5NxsGGB5w6wTH063YHt01PZB1KdaFakQXAcpfM-x6odx4-AC6jJi4kDXKgAsYUaWzUnvsAvCb3XY4VRFAIkb3BUMhWInNPaepKl46PgoFdog/s320/bijapur5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377279956077322674" />

A Choubeesee is also here 3 feet in height with principal deity Bhagwan Parsvanath. The Coubisi is 90cms high and is made of marble. In another room an idol of Bhagwan Parsavanath, Black in color and one of Lord Mahaveer 5 feet in height Black in color, both in cross legged seating posture (padmasam) are installed and again very attractive. All the idols belong to 10th, 14th & 15th century. The puja is conducted at these temples during 9 AM to 10 AM since there is no local Jain Family in the village.

How to reach :
Darga village is about 3 Kms from the town. The way to Darga is from Mahatma Gandhi chowk to Azad road- Chandrapuri road. From chandrapuri road, one reach to Mugalsi Agsi fort and about one Kms from here is the Jail and from there, the village of darga is about 1 km.

Name :
Shri Atishaya Kshetra 1008 Sahastra Fani Parsvanath Digamber Jain Mandir, Bijapur.
Is an Atishaya Kshetra (Place of Miracles).
Address :
Shri Atishaya Kshetra 1008 Sahastra Fani Parsvanath Dig. The Staff is very friendly and helpful with all details on tariff, membership fees, etc.

Entry Fee is Rs.50/- and you need to pay separetely for each of the attractions. Or instead you can pay Rs.750 and enjoy all the attractions inside. Children below 3 years FREE. The Still Camera charge is Rs.100 and Video Camera is Rs.200.

The Front view is stunning and gives a feeling of something of a Grand Palace.
The First attraction is the INNOVATIVE TALKIES. But sadly, most of the street is empty. Only shop working is Bata. The European Style Buildings is constructed in the style of Rome architecture and attracts attention. So do the pretty marble(?) statues.

Innovative Film City Staff recommend Mirror Maze very highly. And rightly so. Mirror Maze is exciting and worth your penny. Mirror Maze is the BEST attraction in IFC. You are handed even plastic gloves so as not to stain glasses. Once inside, the only source of Light which guides to the Exit are the dimly lit small red lights around the mirrors and the mirror reflections. Very exciting. Stay inside as long as possible to enjoy. The more you stay inside, the more fun it is. Of course, it is a bit challenging to find the exit with those dim right lights. The funny part, you will be meeting your group people again and again. Do hold your kids hand for he may get lost and start crying. Mirror Maze manages to bring the child in you. Mirror Maze is Rs.75 per person.

Ripley's Believe it or Not flatters to decieve. Ripley's Ghost is interesting. Kids will love this especially the revolving Cylinder and the 5 legged Cow. Rs.100.

Aqua Kingdom is an artificial beach with palm trees, etc. WASTE of money. Sure, Bangalore is land locked and we are thirsting for some watery fun. Not only the water is dirty but the loud music only turns you off. Kids may however enjoy. Waves, just for 15-20mins makes YOU too enjoy the beach. The Authorities should consider improving the facilities for changing and shower. Charge of Rs.150 is absolute rip off.

Even kids will be disappointed by Cartoon City. Entrance is FREE but charged Rs.30 for every ride. The Children enjoyed only the Water based Shark Attack. Dashing Car is so-so.

The Better Part of the IFC is the 4D. It costs Rs.100 and is worth watdching. Sadly, the movie lasts under 10 mins.

Miniature City is a waste of money. Kids can create a Better version of the same!!! Very poor models of Airports, Great Wall of China, etc.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihp05N1Ww-SdGYqGcz1Mh9kGaOnXAs_D5D2Tq8Ay80wPIs9Kst2Ki496bKHK4gjLODW5nK-ba39_80vosXsAbFam7vGSNBJoyGiQ9lZijRAQXBORGMfZp0atM04lPrqonHhSUUv9PYT_0/s320/100_1593.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349639672069849234" />

Wonder what the Gaint Models of Mobile Phones were doing in this Miniature City. And what was this falls, Niagara Falls???. Too small and insignificant. Rs.50

Tussads Wax Museum is worth. Very few Indian celebrites. And surprisingly, very sparsely crowded. Absolutely Poor quality of models. Compelety avoidable. Rs.75

Go karting is good fun. Rs.150 for 4 Laps.

Dinosaurs Park is good. However the sounds made by Dino could scare little ones. Life size models of Dino make good viewing but sound very unreal. Lots of Greenery and a mini Waterfalls make good viewing. Rs.50

Fossil Museum is a miss me and you will miss nothing. Visit only if the Sun is very hot, for the Museum is Completely Air-Conditioned!!

Haunted House (Rs.100) is truly scary. Too dark and thus anything that pops out will scare you or make you laugh, depending on your view of Horror. Had a good laugh.

The Mini Golf too is enjoyable. After all, how many times you get the opportunity to play the Game.

Cafeteria is okayish. Masala Dosa @ 30 is too costly and too small for that price. Idly @ 20 too is very little. The place can get really crowded during lunchtime with people eating standing too. There is also a MacDonald’s to satisfy the upper crest. There is Coffee Day outlet too.
Parking facility is pathetic. You should park your vehicle in the open outside under the blazing sun and with no security. So, it is no surprise that Parking is FREE.
Outside Food is not allowed inside. However, those come in buses, can avail the facility of FREE drop to the Innovative Film city from the Highway.

Conclusion :
Very expensive though one should visit at least once. Instead of buying a Combo All in One Ticket of Rs.700, you are better off buying tickets for each Attraction separately as you may not have time to enjoy all the attractions and also some attractions may not be attractive enough for you.
Better to finish your Breakfast and then go inside the Film City. Go early to enjoy maximum games. Carry spare clothes.
The Film city is very well maintained expect for some parts. Eatables are available at most of the games area.
If you keep your expectations low, you will enjoy the Innovative Film City.

Innovative Film city,
#24 & 26, bidadi,
Bangalore-562109
Tel 080-66966666, 22099999
email : info@innovativefilmcity.in

Visit
http://goodhoteladvisor.blogspot.com
THE BLOG/BLOGGER WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACTIONS THAT MAY RESULT IN ANY LOSS TO THE PERSON ACTING ON THE INFO OF THE BLOG, AS THE BLOG MAY BE ALTERED/DELETED FROM TIME TO TIME.goodtraveladvisorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10641253451470364027noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579162711484501503.post-83869002298569319422009-05-30T08:39:00.000-07:002009-05-30T08:40:22.427-07:00MY BLOG IS RANKED AS WORLD'S NO.3!!!!!I recently received a Mail from www.etfdb.com, a US based etf site which has ranked my Blog http://http://goodfundsadvisor.blogspot.com among the Top 50 50 Buy and Hold Investing Blogs and mine has been ranked at NO.3.
This is what the email said :

“From: Jimmy Atkinson
To: sharesher@indiatimes.com
Sent: Thu, 14 May 2009 21:59:42 +0530 (IST)
Subject: Good Funds Advisor Named a Top 50 Buy and Hold Investing Blog

Hi

Just in case you
have not yet noticed, Good Funds Advisor was named a top 50 buy and hold investing
blog at ETF Database earlier this week. The Park is over 140 years old, having been established in 1864. Cubbon Park was basically designed as a public park in an area of about 100 acres and expanded over the years. However, now the Park is huge and boasts of above 300 acres of Shaded Groves and greenery all around.
For the local people, Cubbon Park is a major lung space and a great attraction for the kids too. The Horticulture Department reveals that the Park has more than 6000 plants/trees.

The Band Stand located inside the Park sees Cultural Music being recited by Talented and Upcoming Artists every Sunday morning.
The Park also boasts of a City Central Library, opposite which lies a Spectacular Rose Garden which is a treat to Sore City eyes.
The Park also houses within and along its periphery such Landmarks as Museum, YMCA, Century Club, Tennis Club, Art Gallery, Aqarium, etc each having its own charm and attraction.
Children have thier own attraction with Toy Train, etc.
Vehicle Movement is banned upto 8AM, after which only Light Motor Vehicles are allowed making access very easy to the park.

Cubbon Park is the jewel in the Crown in the Garden City of Bangalore.

THE BLOG/BLOGGER WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACTIONS THAT MAY RESULT IN ANY LOSS TO THE PERSON ACTING ON THE INFO OF THE BLOG, AS THE BLOG MAY BE ALTERED/DELETED FROM TIME TO TIME.goodtraveladvisorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10641253451470364027noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579162711484501503.post-60662397120682593062009-02-13T07:25:00.000-08:002009-02-13T09:25:01.482-08:00RAJARAJESHWARI TEMPLE, BANGALORELocated next to Green Belt, Raja Rajeshwari Nagar get its name from the very famous and very beautiful Temple of i. Sri Jnanakshi Rajarajeshwari.
THE TEMPLE :
The Eye-catching Arch on the Bangalore-Mysore Road highway lures into the interiors and you will love every second of your visit here. Attracted by the environment, He decided to stay in Kenchenahally (present Rajarajeshwari Nagar) and build Sri Kailash Ashrama Mahasamsthana.
TEMPLE STORY:
Early in the morning on 14.1.1960, the auspicious Sankranthi day, Sri Tiruchi Swamiji was proceeding to Mysore by a car for a Pada Pooja, along with two of his disciples. Just at about six miles South West of Bangalore City, he saw above him in the sky, three garudas (sacred eagles) circling. He saw in them the images of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi who had appeared before him on Mount Kailas. Swamiji got down from the car, and saw a footpath leading to a tiny village Kenchenahally. He proceeded and spotted a tiny cottage amidst a grove of guava trees, the spot the eagles kept on encircling. He decided to have his Ashrama there and arranged to purchase the area. This area happens to be the ancient sacred Tap van of Athri Maharishi and Mahasathi Anasuya. The Foundation stone was laid there by Sri Sivaratnapuri Swamiji (later known as Sri Tiruchi Mahaswami) between 5-30a.m. and 6.-15a.m. on 3rd April 1960.

From then onwards, the growth of the Ashram, has been phenomenally rapid. He has built an Ashram complex consisting of numerous building, established a Pathashala for Vedic and Aagamic studies, free school for academic education, branch Maths in several places, and most important of all, constructed the temple at the present spot which was divinely ordained.
In 1978, the Rajarajeshwari Temple was dedicated.

On the 27th of March every year at sunrise, the rays of the sun fall directly, on the Devi's forehead and travel down to her feet. This was not planned, but it happens that way. The temple is attracting more and more devotees everyday; and special mention should be made of the Navarathri Celebrations and Brahmotsavam, during which Chandi Homa is performed everyday and priests are specially recruited to recite the Vedas and the Saptashati.
Inside the Temple Comples is the New Sri Chakra shrine.

Jayendra Puri Swami who is fluent in all the South Indian languages as well as German and Italian, succeded Sri Tiruchi Mahaswami, who attained Mahasamadhi on Jan 14, 2005.

There is heavy rush of devotees on all days especially on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
